  • Students, if you need help with your classwork or homework, After School Tutoring is held in Room 266 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.


  • Students, don’t forget: The Peace Room is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30-2pm to any student needing support and a safe space to assist with mental health concerns. Check your Canvas to sign up or ask Mrs. Coley!



  • The Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) will be sponsoring a high school student delegation to Ashikaga, Japan from June 21 to June 30, 2025.

The delegation will include high school students and 2 chaperones. Information and application materials can be found on the SCAS website:

  • POPCORN! Popcorn will be at lunch today outside the Commons for $1 a bag!


  • Any senior athlete who is planning on playing a sport next year in college, please stop by the main office and pick up a Signing Day Information Form.  This form must be completed and turned in to Mr. Barnes no later than 3:30 on Friday, May 16th.  If you do not turn in a form, you will not be recognized.


  • Feminist club is collecting essential items for local homeless support groups. Scan the QR code on promotional signs for acceptable items. Donations may be dropped off in Main office until April 30.


  • Prom Guest Permission forms are available in the guidance office for juniors and seniors who wish to bring a date from another school. Forms are due to the guidance office by Thursday, April 24th at 3:30 p.m. Forms must be filled out entirely and turned in on time for guests to be considered. Furthermore, all guests must have a photo ID with them to be admitted to either event. Guests must arrive with and remain with their date at all times for both prom and after prom. 


  • Juniors and Seniors, Prom Tickets will be sold the week of April 21st during A and B lunch in the Commons for $25. Tickets are $30 if you buy at the door. Payment must be in the form of cash or checks made payable to Springfield High School. If you are bringing a guest, make sure to pick up a guest form from guidance. Completed forms are due back to guidance by Thursday, April 24 at 3:30- no exceptions!


Seniors, Prom Court Voting will be on April 22nd! Voting will be on the Class of 25 Canvas page where you will nominate 10 members of your class for Prom Court. Voting will open at 8 AM and close at 11:59 PM. Think about who you'd like to nominate so you are ready!



  • Seniors! It's time to create your senior quote for the yearbook. You can find the form to submit your quote here. Make sure you read the directions carefully - you only get one chance to submit a quote. Any quote that does not follow the directions or contains jokes or inappropriate messages will not be tolerated. Complete the form by April 22 or we cannot include your quote in the yearbook. You need to use your school e-mail to sign in to the form. Contact Mrs. Roan in room 370 or at hroan@sps186.org with any questions. 


  • Next Week: Due to the ACT/PreACT tests and no school on Friday, after school tutoring will be offered on Monday, April 14th. There will be no after school tutoring on Tuesday or Thursday. 


  • If any Model UN member is interested in attending the World Affairs Council of Central Illinois's program on the evenings of Thursday, April 24, or Thursday, May 8, please stop by Mrs. Emery's room and pick up information by the end of the day on Thursday, April 17.


  • Cheer tryout clinics will take place Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, 5:30-7:30 pm, in the SHS commons. 

Tryouts will take place on Thursday, starting at 5pm, in the SHS Gym.

  • The girls track and field team competed at the Jacksonville triangular meet last night at Jacksonville.  Top finishers for SHS were: Maorie Harris finished 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 100; Sanaii Bryant finished 3rd in the 200; Anamarie Kren finished 2nd in the 400; Mary O’Brien finished 3rd in the 800; Justice Moore finished 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 3rd in the 300 hurdles; Jayla Lesson and Anabella Irons finished 1st and 2nd in the shot put, Jayla also finished 3rd in the discus; Katie Benning and Lauren Harrison finished 2nd and 3rd in the triple jump; the 4x100 relay team of Imani Jones, Keziah Toran, Sarah Nguyen and Malorie Harris finished 2nd, and the 4x200 relay team of Sanaii Bryant, Imani Jones, Keziah Toran and Malorie Harris finished 2nd. The girls next compete on Friday at the Bloomington Invite. 


  • The boys track and field team competed at the Solon/Lion Open at Memorial Stadium last night.  The Varsity team and the Fresh/Soph team both finished in 2nd place overall.  1st place finishers  for SHS were: Mekhi Newman in the Varsity 200; Benjamin Walden in the varsity 1600; DJ Peeler in the fresh/soph 1600; Collin Nolte in the fresh/soph 3200; Kam Parson in the fresh/soph 300 hurdles; Trey Sutton in the fresh/soph shot put; Jayden Wilson in the varsity long jump; Richawn Crawford in the fresh/soph long jump; Andrew Benning in the fresh/soph triple jump; the fresh/soph 4x100 relay team of Deanthony Brown, Richawn Crawford, Jacob Greco and Robert Atanda; the Varsity 4x400 relay team of Declan Brown, Benjamin Walden, Farhan Faizel, and Clayton Borah; and the fresh/soph 4x400 relay team of Robert Atanda, Deanthony Brown, Kenny Banta-Taylor and Jacob Greco.  The boys next compete on Saturday at the Capitol City Classic at Lanphier. 


  • The baseball team took care of business in knocking off the Lions of Lanphier 15 to nothing yesterday. Stars of the day included Caiden Bietsch who drove in three with a double to the wall and a bases loaded walk, and Jeffrey Sturm who also hit a long double and picked up his 2nd win on the mound in relief. Sturm threw 2 scoreless innings striking out 5, as he combined with A.J. Ozier and Lucas Richardson to record the shutout. The trio combined to allow only one hit while striking out 9. Jacob Jenkins also contributed a pair of RBI’s on a single and sac fly to go with the first RBI’s of the season for Braydon Meyer and Caleb Gillespie. Next up for the Senators is a 4:30 contest today at Robin Roberts Stadium against Roxana.


  • The baseball team righted the ship in the past two days in recording two wins by the 10-run rule in defeating Lincoln on Tuesday 12 to 1 and Lanphier yesterday 15 to nothing. Stars for  both games started with Brody Scheffler on Tuesday who went the distance in striking out 13 Railers, including 8 in a row in one stretch. Last night Jeffrey Sturm picked up the win in relief as he combined with A.J. Ozier and Lucas Richardson to throw a shutout and strike out 9 while allowing only one hit. The bats for both games were led by Liam Watts with 4 hits and 3 RBI's to go with 3 hits apiece from Wade Snyder and Sturm who also added 3 RBI's. Caiden Bietsch led the hit parade last night with a long double and 3 RBI's for the day. Next up is a 4:30 contest today at Robin Roberts Stadium against Roxana. 



  • The softball team picked up a conference win at Lincoln on Tuesday behind some strong performances at the plate. Mia Volpert was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored, Erin Stoops had a hit and an RBI and Bella Pagliara had a hit and 4 RBI's. Lanie Dumonceaux (Do MON See Ohhhh) also contributed with a hit. Volpert struck out 12 batters in the win. Good job ladies!
