Good morning, Springfield High! Today is Monday April 14th
Senators show perseverance by setting goals for themselves and working hard to achieve them. Set a goal for something you want to accomplish and then break it down into several short-term goals. Each small goal you meet builds your confidence and helps you to persevere towards the next, making the journey towards your long-term goal a series of attainable steps rather than a daunting leap. This week challenge yourself by setting a goal and taking that first step towards achieving it.

The softball team went on the road Friday night to Hardin Calhoun and beat a top 5 ranked team in the state, 1 to 0. In a game that featured 2 division 1 pitchers, runs were at a minimum and pitching and defense mattered the most, and our girls played a fantastic game defensively and backed up Mia Volpert all game. Volpert did her part allowing just 4 hits, no walks and no runs while striking out 7 and also driving in the game winning run on an RBI double in the 3rd inning. Erin Stoops and Bella Pagliara stepped up both offensively and defensively in the game and both had hits. Lanie Dumonceaux (Do MON See Owwww) scored the games only run. Good job ladies!
The baseball team made great improvements over the past week despite losing two close ones over the weekend by the scores of 7 to 6 to Plains and 6 to 5 to Auburn. Strong pitching performances were turned in by Caiden Bietsch, Karter Marks, Lucas Richardson, and Tyler Elliott, as all four gave the Senators a chance to win. The bats came alive up and down the line-up with Liam Watts leading the way with 4 hits and Jacob Jenkins adding 5 RBI’s. They were followed by 2 hits apiece including doubles from Jeffrey Sturm, Wade Snyder, Jacobs and Elliott. A.J. Ozier contributed both a double and a triple good for 3 RBI’s. Next up is a 4:30 CS8 contest on Tuesday at Lincoln.
